Job Description:

Summary and Objective  

The Senior Crew Lead is responsible for the safe, reliable, and airworthy release of aircraft to revenue service on-time by overseeing day-to-day activities of avionics technicians. This includes following the inspection flow and maintaining operational efficiency and quality standards. 

Essential functions

  • Supervise a team of avionics technicians to ensure work is completed on time and in compliance with FAA regulations and company policies. 

  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance tasks on assigned aircraft, implementing proper procedures and methods. 

  • Monitor work progress and ensure all documentation and technical data are accurate and up to date. 

  • Support material requisitions and ensure proper handling and preservation of parts. 

  • Ensure team members are trained and qualified for assigned duties, and that equipment and tooling are in working condition. 

  • Participate in the Safety Management System and support initiatives as assigned by the Director of MRO. 

  • Work with Production Control to support inspection flow and adjust workloads as necessary. 

  • Escalate any major flow issues to appropriate supervisors and assist in resolutions. 

  • Ensure maintenance personnel are properly trained and compliant with documentation and inspection requirements. 

  • Promote quality and safety standards by example and through oversight. 

  • Maintain cleanliness and order of workstations and enforce safety protocols. 

  • Monitor timekeeping, productivity, and work order accuracy. 

Skills and Abilities:    

  • Thorough understanding of aircraft parts, systems, and mechanics.   

  • Thorough understanding of tools and testing methods used to ensure proper functioning of an aircraft and its parts, systems, and mechanics.     

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and adhere to manual instructions to resolve complex mechanical issues.    

  • Detail-oriented with mechanical inclination.   

  • Superior and careful workmanship.  

  • Ability to perform consistently in a continuous fast paced environment.   

  • Ability to perform basic inspections and repairs.   

  • Ability to learn new skills and methods of repairs.     

  • Sufficient oral and verbal communication skills, as needed, to discuss equipment malfunctions and complete reports.

Supervisory responsibilities 

  • Directly supervise assigned Avionics Technicians.

  • May delegate duties in writing but retains overall responsibility for the teams performance. 

Work environment 

  • Typical outdoor and industrial/hangar environments. 

  • Typical business aircraft interior, tight cramped space. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, employees are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, and loud noise levels both inside and outside the hangar.   

  • Possible exposure to a variety of extreme weather conditions.   

  • Exposure to loud noises including airplane machinery and jet engines 

Physical demands   

  • Ability to see and hear clearly    

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and speak English clearly    

  • Ability to climb, twist, bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, and crawl    

  • Ability to move in tight quarters    

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods  

  • Manual dexterity and physical strength are necessary to operate tools and/or make adjustments and repairs.     

  • Must have visual acuity to inspect equipment and identify defects.     

  • Must be able to hear well enough to test sounds and identify functioning level of aircraft.   

  • Must be able to perform work on scaffolding or ladders.   

  • Must be capable of regularly lifting, moving, pulling, and pushing objects weighing up to 75 pounds

Job Requirements:

Required Education and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 

  • Must be 18 years or older 

  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English 

  • FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) Airframe and Powerplant License Required  

  • 5 + years of experience in aircraft maintenance, with a background in leadership or supervisory roles. 

  • Prior Experience with Garmin, Honeywell, Universal, Collins, Primus, Proline  

  • Experience in Cessna Citation series aircraft   

  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems and interactions 

  • Thorough knowledge of current FAA regulations, IPM, and ATA codes 

  • Authorized to work lawfully in the United States without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background check, including verification of previous employment, education, criminal history, and other relevant information 

  • This position is classified as a Safety-Sensitive role under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and is subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with FAA guidelines 

Preferred education and experience 

  • Associate's degree in related field  

  • 7 + years Aerospace/ Aeronautics Experience 

  • FCC 

  • GROL  

  • Repairman Certification
