TITLE: Tooling Supervisor REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager
CLASS: DEPARTMENT: 725 SHIFT: 1st
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Goal of this position is to provide tooling support for manufacturing.
Supports manufacturing by ensuring all dies (and related tooling) are kept in a state of readiness.
Coordinate die reworks with Production Planning, Product Engineering, and Tool Shops.
Supervise toolroom room personnel – do reviews, provide training, provide leadership for all tool shop personnel.
Develop new methodologies in tooling construction and maintenance to reduce die downtime and provide better quality – leading to improved yields through the process.
Ensure adherence to applicable quality systems (SOP’s).
Provide key inputs to troubleshoot setters, core dies and fixture designs on reworks
Provide build letters for new tool design and construction
Execute and maintain tooling preventative maintenance systems
Job well done will be measured by improvement in tooling quality( Meeting inspection criteria), on time delivery (as measured by quarterly schedule), tooling rework costs (as measured by tooling budget), and subjective evaluation of impact on scrap in the plant ( first pass yields).
Cover die setups at all facilities, as needed.
Performs polishing of dies after chrome events on new and/or reworked dies.
Other duties as assigned by Engineering Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 10 years experience with fabrication of airfoil injection molding tooling.
Able to interpret airfoil casting blueprint dimensions.
Must be able to use metrology equipment like: surface plate, height stand,.
Mechanical ability to disassemble and reassemble dies.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot tooling related problems.
Proficient with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
