The Incoming Inspection & Metrology Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for executing and overseeing incoming inspections on electronic, mechanical, optical components and harnesses, through both document verification (including First Article Inspection – FAI) and sample-based physical checks, in compliance with EN/AS9100 standards.
Additionally, this role will serve as the company’s reference for metrology activities and will contribute to the drafting of internal FAIs related to production processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform incoming inspections on components, verifying both documentation (supplier FAIs) and physical product conformity.
- Develop and implement quality control methods (visual, dimensional, functional).
- Collaborate with the production team to identify and resolve non-conformities.
- Draft and maintain internal FAIs for production process validation.
- Manage and maintain metrology equipment, ensuring proper calibration and measurement reliability.
- Support internal and external audits by providing technical and documentary evidence.
- Prepare technical documentation and quality reports.
- Contribute to the definition and updating of technical inspection specifications.
Qualifications
Education:
- Degree in Mechanical, Electronic, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Minimum 2–3 years in similar roles within structured industrial environments (preferably aerospace).
Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of EN/AS9100 standards.
- Experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings and product specifications.
- Familiarity with mechanical and electronic inspection tools.
- Ability to draft and analyze FAIs according to AS9102.
Soft Skills:
- Precision, attention to detail, and quality-oriented mindset.
- Teamwork and effective communication with suppliers and colleagues.
- Proactivity and problem-solving attitude.
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of metrology software.
- Experience with ERP/MES systems.
- Quality certifications (e.g., ISO 9001/9100 Auditor).
- Knowledge of key quality tools (8D, Ishikawa, 5 Whys, etc.).
