Job Description:

 The Materials and Processes Engineer is responsible for the review and approval of aircraft and process modifications, as well as approval of De Havilland suppliers for special processes.Responsibilities:Evaluate new materials for Aerospace applications. Work closely with Material suppliers, vendors, Laboratories in evaluating materials and processes.Develop Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspection procedures for various aircraftParticipate to the development of technical documents related to NDT processesPerform technical reviews of NDT procedures and technique sheets of manufacturing NDT processes requiring approvalParticipate in research and development projects involving new materials and advanced NDT technologiesMaintain and update materials specifications and processes related documentsEvaluate materials and processes to ensure compliance with environmental requirements (REACH, EPA,CEPA…).Evaluate aircraft modifications to ensure compliance to approved processes and regulatory requirementsReview and implementation of current and new De Havilland processes to maintain industry leadershipProvide primary technical expertise and leadership in resolving manufacturing issues in the Operations, Quality, Customer Support and Supply Chain departmentsTravel regularly to perform audits of special processes at suppliersEvaluate suppliers’ conformity to manufacturing processes requirementsAdditional Functions: Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirementsMaintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company productPerforms other duties such as Internal Audit Support, Airworthiness containment activities and corrective action implementationSkills and Requirements: You hold an engineering degree or equivalent in Materials , Metallurgy.You have experience related to the special processes for the manufacturing of aerospace metallic parts and corrosion protection, e.g. heat treatment, chemical processing, welding, shot peening, etc.You have strong leadership, problem solving, flexibility and project management skillsYou have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in aerospace industries in metallurgy fieldsYou are familiar with the NDT inspection methodologies of assemblies, aircraft structures, aerospace terminology and technical drawingsYou have a minimum of five years of experience in NDT in the aerospace industryYou are knowledgeable about typical NDT aerospace codes, standard and with the development of non-destructive inspection proceduresYou know how to conduct NDT technical audits in-line with your field of expertiseYou have shown strong leadership, problem solving, project and time/priority management skills in your past assignments and require minimum supervisionYou accept to travel occasionallyYou have a good working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft OfficeYou have excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in EnglishYou have a good understanding of Nadcap, AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standardsLicensed or eligible for licensing as a Professional Engineer in Ontario
