Aircraft Electrical Mechanic II

Location: San Antonio, TX
Shift: Variable (1st, 2nd, 3rd), weekends & overtime
Travel: Up to 25%
Clearance: Secret (post start) - ability to obtain

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Electrical Mechanic II to perform electrical modifications, troubleshooting, and repairs on aircraft systems. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and flexibility to work variable shifts and travel as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform on- and off-aircraft electrical modifications to wiring and system components
  • Execute complex connector terminations including shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optic wiring
  • Route and handle wire harnesses per engineering instructions
  • Seal, wrap, bond, tie, and close wire harnesses and cables
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, and specifications
  • Conduct assembly, installation, inspection, and operational checks of electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft electrical and environmental systems
  • Perform bench and flight line operational testing in accordance with DOD and manufacturer directives
  • Assist and train less senior employees; may lead teams on complex tasks
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, Hazardous Energy, and Lock Out/Tag systems
  • Maintain certifications and adhere to SA Tool and FOD procedures
Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 4+ years of experience performing duties as described above
  • 4+ years of experience/knowledge in electrical/electronic theories and systems
  • Experience fabricating new wire bundles
  • Experience routing and installing wire bundles on airplanes without existing wiring (commercial routing experience preferred)
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd), weekends, and overtime
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and safety protocols

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Depot Level/Modification maintenance
  • Ability to operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and elevating equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift up to 35 lbs; occasional two-person lift for heavier loads
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working on elevated platforms
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and noisy environments
  • Pass visual acuity and color perception tests
